Company President Don Nelson was just a teenager when he began cultivating his construction know-how. He worked cutting firewood and mowing lawns and later working construction in high school.

He spent 16 years learning all he could about nearly every aspect of earthwork for a large construction company in Alaska.

Don settled down, got married and soon had a son on the way. He knew he couldn’t be an active father living in work camps throughout Alaska so he decided to go back to school. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Seattle University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1994.

Not long after, he would go on to start Nelson & Sons Construction Co. in May of 1996.

The combination of field experience and formal business education have served him well, and what began as a one-man operation over 20 years ago has grown into a full service commercial and residential earthwork and utilities company of over 200 educated and talented employees: Team Nelson.

Don and his talented team take great pride in the work they do and in the relationships they cultivate. As a team, they work to provide their partners with a service that is unmatched in this industry- just like they have since 1996.
