What began as a one-man operation over 28 years ago has grown into a full service commercial and residential earthwork and utilities company of over 175 educated and talented employees: Team Nelson.

Team Nelson takes great pride in the work they do and in the relationships they cultivate. As a team, they work to provide their partners with a service that is unmatched in this industry- just like they have since 1996.

The beginning

Company president Don Nelson spent 16 years learning all he could about moving dirt while working for a large civil construction company in Alaska.

Don got married and soon had a son on the way. He knew he couldn’t be an active father while working in remote sites in Alaska, so he decided to go back to school. Don graduated Suma Cum Laude from Seattle University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Don worked in public accounting for about a year and a half but missed working construction. In May of 1996, Don started Nelson & Sons Construction Company.

Over the last 28 years, the company has grown from a one man operation to over 175 employees.
