CHIHULY GARDEN AND GLASS EXHIBITION CENTER

Seattle Center - Seattle, WA

Team Nelson was involved in the redevelopment of Seattle Center’s former Fun Forest into the Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibition center in 2011. The complete site work package included earthwork and utilities for the world famous Glass House and Outdoor Garden exhibits.

Due to the limited size of the work site, with surrounding buildings and active pedestrians around the work zone, Team Nelson worked meticulously to manage space, moving equipment and materials constantly to maintain site access for all construction trades.

The project involved complete site-work, including the replacement of 112 lineal feet of 12’’ Seattle Public Utility water main inside a brand new 24’’ casing routed under the glass house; an electrolysis testing station on the Seattle Public Utility water main; complete sewer, storm, and water utility package; installation of an extensive drainage system for the garden; and the building foundation excavation and capillary break installation.
